The classroom was full of parents, and the kids anxiously waited their turn in the hall. I did not know these 2nd graders could memorize so well. Some of the speeches were quite long! Watch out scripture mastery, here we come!
This morning, as Cooper tried on the borrowed hat and suit coat, I was so excited and squealed in excitement for him. He suddenly got scared and nervous and began to cry. I took him to the couch and got out my childhood photo album. I showed him the picture of me as a gryphon from the play Alice in Wonderland. He laughed at me and I told him a costume is important, and his costume was perfect. He gained courage and was off to school. He is such a good kid. I am so happy to be his mom.

I am always touched at the love Heavenly Father has for me and my children. Yesterday I was impressed to look at my photo album to see if Maggie looked like me. It was then I saw the forgotten photo, Julie the Gryphon. This morning, in the moment of Cooper's despair, I knew what to do and how to teach. I do not know how I would parent without staying close to the Spirit. What a precious gift from a loving Father.

Cooper rocks! We are so glad you gave such a good speech and you look good in your costume. Grandpa says he likes your mustache and wants one like that. Julie, so happy for you to find that pic of your costume, so you could share it with Cooper at just the right moment. You are truly being guided and teaching by the spirit. Love to you all!!
He looks so cute and more and more like Spence every day! You're such a great mom :)
