May Happenings

 Spencer took Cooper and Savannah to Regional Conference in the Conference Center. Both kids could not believe how big it was. We are so glad they got to go do this. When Elder Holland entered the Room the congregation stood. Cooper asked what was happening and Spence showed him. Cooper could feel the spirit and was happy to be there. When Elder Uchdorf walked in Cooper quickly stood and watched again. Cooper liked the first talk so much. When did he grow up! Savannah had to attend because Cooper was. She still is his shadow wanting to be just like him. We are loving our big and little kids.

We love Bountiful's sidewalk Chalk Art Festival. This year Eric entered for Moustache Power. Spence enjoyed a few evenings walking Main Street and cheering Eric on. Eric won an Honorable Mention and cash prize! Way to go Eric.

Julie attended the NFB (National Federation of the Blind) Utah Convention. The first evening was Parent night of Blind Children. Cooper and Savannah went to a fun kids group to play games and get their faces painted. Savannah liked meeting and begining to understand the blind world.

Julie attended meetings the following 2 days. I could not believe the wide scope blindness effects. My favorite speakers were Mary Jo Hartley who grew up here in bountiful and is now a mother to a 8 month old daughter. Her perspective on growing up visually impaired connected with me as a monther raising a daughter in a similar world. She was inspiring. Also Cheralyn Creer a mother of 2 who is legally blind spoke. Her stories of learning to be a blind person and the influence of the NFB was powerful. Kristen Cox spoke about being a blind person in the world and what it takes to be respected, successful and independent. She is beautiful and has a family and a busy job. I was blow away by this Convention and filled with hope and appreciation for Savannah. We will see if she chooses to join when she gets older! Savannah is somewhere in between the blind and sighted world. We will expose her to both and hope she finds her own niche.  We got a new bed in Maggie's room! Right now it is being used as a fort.

My little girl loves to stand on the counter, open the cupboard and look for food. This cute little stinker!

May was busy. Not just because school was ending but because the Clipper chose to no longer deliver the papers to the carriers. With this announcement I lost over 30 routes carriers. I was working 30 hrs a week filling routes and contracting cute little kids. I do love my job but this made me realize I do want to stay home. Life is so busy. Good thing things slowed down mid June :) I like my 8-10 hr a week job.
