I confess, I am a grocery store couponing junkie. I started couponing when my sister in law began buying amazing amounts of food for very small amounts of money. I love the hunt and the bargain. Last week, I got $45 worth of food for $7. And it is food we actually eat and enjoy. I watch the sales and forums found at pinchingyourpennies, grocerysmarts, and hip2save. Then I wait and save my coupons for a sale that has items we really like to eat, and I buy! You know things are serious when I drag my 3 kids to the store to buy 6 items.
I only receive 1 Sunday paper. I got a great deal on it 3 years ago and it renews at the same low price every year. The secret to couponing is printing your own coupons at home. Most online coupons will only print 2 from each computer. I print from my laptop, the house computer, and on really good sales, Spence prints coupons from work.(My brother actually prints coupons at his work from every different work station he can get his hands on. He got enough coupons to buy 20 bottles of salad dressing for $5.49, and 20 bottles of bbq sauce for $4.50)
The best sales are when you can double your coupons. Albertsons has been putting out a few of these each week. Today was a big score. (Imagine the excitement of a frugal mom like me) Using double coupons I got 4 packs of hot dogs FREE, 1 gallon of milk for $.17, 8 cups of yogurt for $.09 a piece, and a 24 pack of water bottles for $1.50. At the cash register there were more double coupons so I took some home, printed more coupons and am heading back later today for more practically free food! (this time I am getting salad dressing for free, and more water)
This is a silly and crazy hobby. Some weeks I have more time than others to hunt for bargains. Other times there are no needed bargains so I just shop like normal. But it is so fun! I guess being raised to never buy anything full price is paying off. Thanks Mom.

Duuude me too! I seriously have like 4 blogs that tell me what to buy and what to print and then I go and do it. I get most of my stuff free or the store gives me $$ for my overages! Booya! Way to go julie. Couponing is the best. Plus did you know walmart takes coupons. Its a good way to get rid of coupons that are about to expire and haven't gone on sale yet.
EWWW, thanks for sharing! I love new tips to save money.
Wow, way to go. Those are some crazy good deals. I haven't gotten that good at deals yet. I'll have to check out the sites.
Wow awesome! I'll have to get the blogs from Jaime too! :)
I have tried to do this and then lose my motivation ... maybe someday I'll do better, it is seriously a bit of a rush to get a good deal! I did the huggies thing you posted about a while ago and we are just getting to the end of all the wipes I bought back then!!
I AM impressed. You girls have definitely taken couponing to a new level! It IS totally addicting because you feel SO great getting those bargains and getting home with all those groceries for nearly free! A natural high!
I'm so jealous! I wish I lived near you so you could do the leg work and then I could tag along and save too! :) I definitely need to get on my game face.
