Another year brought another 3 hour long visit to the ophthalmologist. Spence, Savannah, Maddux and I endured the waiting room twice, 3 different exam rooms and a walk to the gift shop. Once again we saw sicker children with worse problems than ours, which made us feel grateful for a temporary ice age helmet, Albinism, and a 6 year old with attitude.
As we assumed, because he has no nystagmus and dark coloring, Maddux does not have Albinism and has great vision.
Savannah's vision continues to improve. Up close, 6-12 inches away, her vision is 20/30. Distance is 20/70 in one eye and 20/50 in the other. We are really happy with her progress and expect it to continue to improve as she ages.
I had deja-vu this morning. When Savy was 8 months old I took her for her first eye appointment. I was so scared and nervous. I knew something was wrong with my baby girl but did not want to know what. I remember the sick feeling in my stomach when she was given a diagnosis. There was so much information given at once and so much to think about. I drove home with her sleeping soundly, crying my eyes out. 4 years has passed and many of my concerns and fears have been addressed. This morning as Maddux was so sweet watching the Doctor's toy, I was so grateful for his health. I was grateful to have Spence there with me. Family and Marriage are a wonderful thing.

Yay for babies. Each of your kids are so cute, and have great personalities. Maddux not only has great vision, he is so fun to look at. I am glad the appointment went well all around!
I'm so glad Savy is getting better! She's so adorable and I'm always so amazed by you. You're 100% right, Family and Marriage are the BEST!
So glad to hear the good news!! You are right - There IS much to be grateful for and to celebrate.
Hooray for both Savy and Maddux! Good reminder to just be grateful for healthy children.
