Sewing is not my thing,

But making Jam and Jelly is. It feels so good to make something from scratch, and to know what I am feeding my family. I like knowing there are no preservatives or high fructose corn syrup in it. This year I tried something new.
Grape Jelly
Get lucky with a box of concord grapes

Steam the 12 lbs of grapes

Get this dark, amazingly sweet smelling juice
Yielded 4 quarts

7 cups sugar, 5 1/2 cups juice, and 1 box of pectin
(I never said it was healthy for you)

Yield 3 batches of Jelly (12 pints)
Stored between the extra cat food and the board games
We may be breaking a few health guidelines

It looks real, because it is real! It holds perfect form. It tastes heavenly. I love it. It makes me giddy. I feel like I am in my beloved childhood book, Anne of Green Gables. I would have thrived then. I wonder what the harvest next year will bring. I hope it is apples. Making apple sauce would be fun to learn.

Yum! Good job making stuff from scratch! :) We're trying to be cognizant about no high fructose corn syrup too!
