Coop and the Book Reports

Every month Cooper has a book report due. It is time consuming to pick a book, read it and neatly write a Summary, I learned statement, and Opinion with a creative project. October was Realistic Fiction. Henry Huggins was his pick. Here is the diorama of Henry and his dog, Ribsy.

November was Historical Fiction. Cooper chose The Sign of the Beaver. We loved it!!! We checked 2 copies of the book from the library and read together. This should be required reading for all boys of Cub Scout age. One afternoon Savannah came running for bandaids, Cooper was bleeding! He had gotten down the pocket knife from his birthday and had decided to whittle a wood sword. Yes, he cut his finger. This is the book that inspires little boys to be Frontiersmen.

I learned a bit more about Cooper. He has struggled with writing and knowing what to write. He wiggles and stresses and cries about it. I finally told him whatever he writes is not wrong. It is his opinion and what he learned from the book. After that he was off and writing so fast you could not read it! The requirement was to write a journal as the main character. His journal is so clever and witty! I am happy Cooper finally figured it out. Now to perfect the handwriting.
